My '04 also didn't have one. I ordered one and installed it for my "peace of mind." I plan on keeping the truck for a long, long time and also was concerned about paint damage. I believe total cost was about $85.00 for blanket and push tabs.

I got an 05 & of course it didn't have a blanket. I bought 1 yesterday & put it on. The difference in the heat on the hood was alot. I'm glad I got one. I did it just because, I was worried about the paint. Without the blanket the hood was hot enough to start getting real hot on your hand, with it just warm.

I'm glad my 02 has one. It keeps the hot Texas sun from cooking the nice cool engine /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
