I have a 2002 F-350 work truck....and I mean work. Unloaded weight is 10,600lbs. I bought the truck used in Maryland in 2004 from a Ford dealership. (what I didn't know is the dealership didn't do a detailed inspection on the motor before I drove it away). I drove the truck around DC for about a week then hitched up a 39' travel trailer and headed to N. Dakota (I build retail stores coast to coast). Ran into a terrible storm on the PA turnpike, at night, with no shoulder. Long story short it had a water hose leak and ran so hot it fried the temp sensor and the glow plug sensor as well as dump oil into the coolant. The local ford dealership flushed and filled 12 times and I was on my way. In 2008 I discovered I had a blown head gasket in the exhaust section (it kept "flash" overheating which I could cool down instantly by pushing in the clutch). I had it fixed and was on my way. Over the past 6-8 months I've noticed a lack of power and fuel economy along with white smoke when the truck idles for an hour. I recently went out of town (in my wife's explorer) for two weeks and the truck sat. I just cranked it today and after idling for 3-5 minutes, it started bellowing white steam and when goosed it poured jet black water. The coolant res was empty and (after I refilled) it took an hour of idling before the white smoke was gone.......any help would be greatly appreciated.
