Doorkicker brings up a good point, get rid of the cable and get a good winch rope. I got mine from rockstompers.com. its much lighter, easier to use and its stronger then steel cable

the warn winch comes with this neat little thing called a switch that lets me toggle it to the off postion really fast if need be

if our stock power steering pump was not so weak it maybe an alternative to an electric winch, but it is. if you go hydraulic plan on upgrading the pump too

I have done a lot of winching without the truck running and it never was an issue
