getting to engine from top is a challenge as you know...have seen the dolly for under the hood work and that's great but don't want to buy for just ocassional work..a cinder block or short ladder works ok...what do you use to work under the hood?

I use a full five gallon paint bucket. I'm fairly tall so that helps a little.

I have a couple of real thick furniture blankets that I put on top of the radiator behind the grille. Just lay on that(fairly comfortable). You can get up on your knees on them and access about anything you need to work on. As long as you blankets are really thick, nothing gets broke or jabbed into your knees:thumbsup:

Deathwish, and I do about the same thing, although I will fold up the blankets a couple of times to make them even thicker.

Actually, it's not bad at all to work like this (especially when pulling the turbo!)

being 5'7" and 125 pounds i just stand on the bumper if its going to be quick. if not i have one of those platforms with the fold out legs and normally duct tape a shop rag or two over the paint so i dont scratch it with my belt buckle.

I keep a couple of old pillows just for this. Throw them over the battery area then a blanket over those. Nice and comfy.
