Just purchased an 02 Powerstroke and was wondering what is the most cost effective route to get 350 rwhp? WHat mods have to be done and roughly how expensive?
I know many folks have done it with different combinations of modifications, but for a daily use truck, how hard is it to get there and have a reliable truck.
I have several friends with Duramax trucks and it is easy for those guys but I am a Ford guy and plan to stay with Fords!

intake, cost varies depending on what kind you buy. 4" exhuast system 4-500 dollars. chip, would reccommend DP tuner even though im having some problems with mine right now.

You will need to go beyond the chip, exhaust and intake. Big oil, with stock injectors might put you there or no oil and hybrid injectors. I am not sure as I have stopped at the first step (first sentence) and that is usaully good for 300 rwhp.

332 hp and 785 tq dynoed with di chip, afe stg 1 intake, 4" exhaust, gds ballbuster turbo, torque converter and valve body. that was on 35's. If I had stock tires and a stage II, i probably could have done 350.

The most you can squeeze from stock injectors is 320-340 HP depending on the dyno. To get there I suggest a Garrett BB turbo, Intake, 4" Exhaust, and custom tuned chip. Anything above that and you are starting to play with fire due to the powdered metal rods. Please let me know if you have any questions or if youd like a quote on a package deal.

I don't see how hard it is to get to 350hp. In '02 they bumped up the hp to 275. By adding a good chip, I don't see how you could come short of 350. Please correct me if I'm wrong, maybe I'm missing something.

That factory rating is probably at the crank. He asked for rear wheel horsepower. The factory number would be alot less at the rear wheels.

Banks exhaust $500
Banks intercooler $1100
Banks Transcommand $250
GTP38R turbo w/1.15 housing $2000
New (not rebuilt) AC injectors $2000
Hypermax chip $400
New air filter $20
TOTAL $6270

This has to be extreme $6270 to get 350RWHP?

Does anyone make a better HP oil pump that will allow me to get a higher rail pressure and maintain that pressure under load?

know i just read what everyone has said and would agree and disgree now i an new to the ford psd but iknow my way around a diesel motor and i also and by no means saying that anyone is wrong and i am sure everyone know first hand what they are talking about for there truck but i will add this and i got this from this fourm www.powersrtokehelp.com this man knows the 7.3 and i have done some of his mods 350 rwh dosent take what you might think from what he says know i will say this the hp and tq numbers that he starts with are wrong he gives the non-turbo stcok hp and tq the 7.3 with the 120 injectors auto 250hp 500tq at the crank and the stick is 275hp and 550tq at the crank also your numbers will very alot depending on the dyno so i am still building my 7.3 and will just have to wait and see what the numbers turn out to be

You said "reliable daily driver". I consider that list the minimum. You could easily add another $4000.

I may be very wrong on this but from what I have read, the following should get me very close to 350 RWHP

Good air intake kit
4" exhaust
a very good high pressure oil pump and associated plumbing mods
a good custom tune

Who makes the best aftermarket HPOP?

Yea. For less than $1000 you can get to low 300's. You have to ask yourself if the extra 20-30 horsepower is really worth the cost and work to get to 350. You would be better off to throw a nice set of injectors on top of that for another grand or so and see where your rwhp lands after some good tuning.

The 99+ HPOP is better than my '96. With Injectors and either the Banks turbo kit or have Turbo Engineering rebuild the stock one you can get 35 Lbs of boost and 300-350 rwhp. I threw Hypermax Injectors in my '96 and dynoed it at 297 before adding anything else. Don't forget the importance of an upgraded intercooler so you don't over heat the heads. Most are pretty comparable but Banks flows more and Hypermax cools the largest volume. My '96 Dynoed 325RWHP without a HPOP. Just be prepared to get addicted cause its alot like getting a tatoo, just it only hurts your wallet.

I'm an OBS guy, but my setup in my sig. did 367hp at the rear wheels. The only thing is I had my TS chip with some tunes from Bean in when I did the dyno run because my seat of the pants gauge tells me it makes more power than my DP, so I used it.

You, will need a turbo for enough air. Or your egt's will be to high for the motor to last. You can get to 350 without injectors. But on the note of HPOP, you could use either terminator or stealth.
