I've posted here a couple of times already regarding a used truck I am considering. Thanks for the info so far. Now I've got another question:

How long is/was the warranty on the '04's engine and drivetrain? Is it 100K. Anyone know for sure whether it is transferrable (stays with the truck when sold)? The window sticker I have shows a 3 year/36K warranty but I've got to believe the engine/dt is longer.

I searched under warranty here, but as you may guess, there are 100's of hits and I couldn't find one specifically addressing the length of warranty on the '04's.

The truck I am considering is a trouble-free (so far) '04 with an early build date. It has about 24K miles on it already.

Truck has a 3 year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper. The engine (not drivetrain) has a 100,000 mile warranty. These both follow the truck when/if sold.

You can downlaod the warranty from Motorcraft. In a nut shell, it's 3/36 on the entire truck and 100K on the engine only. Emissions parts are also 100K.

You can get a True Ford Extended Warranty online for cheap also. Cheap compared to what they try and sell for. PM me if you like. I have a link to where they were giving $200 off. It would almost work for me to cancel mine and rebuy... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You can also search on line. I got the 6/60 Extended Care for $1400. I bet you could get it from the dealer for a grand easy as part of the deal. With $50 deductible. Heck, tell them you will take it for X price and the Full 100K 7 year top of the line warranty for $1200 to $1400. I would not go any higher and I would not buy unless they gave me a deal on the used vehicles warranty.

I will PM you even though I almost never buy extended warranties on anything.

I'm not buying the truck from a dealer. It is from my best friend who has one too many vehicles and one too many monthly payments. Plus, getting it from him, I am buying a known item. Kind of makes the deal even nicer.

The real short answer is: Engine - 100k/Drive train - 36K OR until the first mod is reported by the dealer. Which ever comes first will kill the warrenty.
