Living in Colorado, you would be well-advised to keep an eye on your air filter.

I don't see why 400,000 to 500,000 isn't likely if the engine is well maintained.

I have 125k on my truck. Runs like a top, no issues currently. All mods (intake/exhaust/gauges and soon to be chip) were put in w/in the last 15,000 miles. I have had an HPOP O ring go south on me, 25 dollar repair. Wheel Bearing on driver side, 350 dollar repair. A few other small odds and ends... but I'm more worried about wearing out the seats before I have to do anything like an overhaul! In fact, I plan to keep this truck until at least 2009 or 2012 when I either buy an 06 F350 CC or an 09 F350 (depending upon the year I keep it till...)

168k on mine and I run it, but also take care of it. A few years ago I ran into a fellow in Oregon with a 1995 PSD and he had 520k on it and said he was running it to see how long it would run before it finally quit. He used it as his basic well drilling rig and had a hand shaker tranny. He said he only changed out the basic maintanence stuff and it still had good power and he used it every day. My '97 was a great truck, but my current '02 7.3 is by far, the best truck I have ever owned.

Ditto here. Mine just turned over 243,000 and still runs like the day I bought it. Only issues so far have been 2 alternators and 1 water pump. I'm jus't now beginning to have some isssues with the tranny. I'm hoping it's just the torque converter. Not only is the motor excellent this truck doesn't even have the first squeak or rattle. I know this is the best truck I have ever owned. I plan on getting at least 500K out of the engine. "Knock on Wood". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

100K on a 7.3, isn't that a new engine? International has somewhat secretly has stated a 7.3 is good to go for 500K properly maintained. My 02 with 198K is the youngster, old reliable (02 4X4), has 594K, and is still running good, same oil consumption as the first 10K miles. A BTS tranny, and a few mod's, good maintenance, You are good to go for a long time.

I love it. Very glad now I paid 24K for a used 01 w 73K on it. At my current miles per year and my age of 52, I will never buy another vehicle. I want them to bury me in it with the seat heater on, lol.

I love this thread! I was getting nervous And now, Im not even a little worried. I have 256,000 and have only replaced the tranny, glow plugs and a starter. 1997 f350 crew. I LOVE THIS THING. I also plow with it and haul the camp trailer. BAD ASS!!! I love it soo much, I am looking for another just to plow and keep this baby for the family rig. I forgot to mention that I get 17 mpg towing the 24 ft camp trailer full of water over two passes. She is not the fastest thing but BULLET PROOF!...
All my friends keep buying new rigs and I just run this old girl. Been paid off for two years. Guess who has more money in their savings?

My 01' 350 has 265+, is on tranny no. 3 but still runs strong. It's down right now from a worn out A/C compressor.

I've replaced the water pump and front ball joints two years ago. I thought it was going to fall apart with less than 100k when the first tranny let go at 80k. Then the starter fell off in BFE and right after that the right front wheel bearing went out and the wheel all but came off going down the road, all withing a two month period.

I washed, waxxed and then detailed the interior a few days ago and it looks brand new. When I get it out of the shop this next week I'm detailing the engine.

Mine has over 150,000 miles, and it might as well be brand new.

My truck only has a 170k on it but I plan on driving it until the whole thing rusts around me. When I bought my truck I dumped a couple thousand on neglected maintenance items that were all drivetrain related.

I pulled the valve cover off on the driver size to fix a UVC problem and I was amazed with how good the engine looks.

You can buy a new diesel that makes over 700lb-ft of torque but what it comes down to is the 7.3l is one of the best diesel engines ever made.

Mine has 208,600 as of this morning (12/21/11, need to update the sig). Only minor things here and there for the motor. Starters, did the intercooler boots, one bad o-ring on the HPOP, and removed the washer on the AC compressor to fix it. I'm starting to see a weak glow plug(s), but nothing big. I need to put POR15 on my oil tank, if you live in a state that gets snow and they use salt then you'll want to protect the oil tank.

7.3L's are bullet proof. Even when the old girl finally does give out, I'll just rebuild or stick another one in.
