i was wondering what you guys run for oil pressure?

mine runs 45-50 psi cold but hot the highest it gets hot is 35-38 psi and 10 psi idle

is this normal?

I'd say you're a pound or two low but within acceptable limits. Most of us see 40lbs a operating RPMs hot, and between 15 and 20 lbs at hot idle. But hey, at 300,000+ miles you're doing pretty good...

How are you measuring this pressure? What gauge?
A mechanical gauge is likely the most accurate. A factory gauge is notoriously inaccurate.

I'd say that isn't bad.
Mine is at 55-ish psi going down the road, but engine is new. This is with and electric guage T'd off the factory sending unit tube in the back of the engine. This allowed me to have the factory in dash guages (glorified idiot lights) and aftermarket guages under the dash.

Remember that you have eight sprayers squirting oil at the bottom of the pistons, that kind of lessins the oil pressure.
This ain't no small block cheby so don't expect the numbers to be the same.
Your numbers sound just like mine, but I take the presure right at my turbo using a mechanical gauge.

My 6.9 has 10-15 hot idle, and 40-50 going down the road hot, the conventional wisdom here has been that the oil pressure number you want to worry about is the one going down the road at operating temp. I wouldn't worry too much as long as you have at least 30 PSI at 2000RPM and up. In fact if the engine is from pre 1986 30psi was the minimum spec for oil pressure, the newer 6.9s and 7.3s spec'd a minimum of 40 for reasons I don't understand.
