My gauges are due to arrive on Tuesday. But, even in just driving the truck around the neighborhood, I am seeing what seems like excessive smoke during acceleration and when shifting. I know that the new chip will increase the smoke output exponentially as the setting increases. Yet, even on tow and daily driver settings, this seems a little much. My wife helped out by shooting a couple of vids with our digital camera last night. She's never done this before, just so you know what to expect /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif It may be hard to get a feel for the landscape, but this was an average grade in our area. It allowed me to get on the pedal just a bit, to simulate what we are seeing on the roads around the house. Sorry for the stupid questions, I'm just a little concerned that something might be out of whack. Without the gauges, I was a bit timid to get on it too much. The exhaust is completely open and I am running a Tymar-type intake.

Thanks in advance for your input.

I can't seem to open teh files, says I need a plug-in, I see they are MOV files , I have a camera that uses that format but have not been able to get teh videos to DVD format to play on the TV, anybody able to help me out?

As for your smoking you can get tehm to turn down teh tip-in throttle to reduce teh smoke or perhaps even your MAP sensor is off?

If the videos are of your tow mode, I would say there is something wrong with the programming. Are you running stock injectors? My chip is a few years old so it doesn't have the advantage of the newer programming secrets that have come along lately, and I only put out about half that smoke. With that being said......who's chip is it? I'd like to get a hotter burn!

He has Beans tranny savers injectors. You can make a manual trans truck smoke more than an automatic. That looks fine to me.

I would suggest putting a full 4" exhaust on the truck!!

When the guy behind you pulls over to pick up some tailpipe charcoal for his bbq pit, then you have enough smoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

Yes, the LCX burn from Tony is great, but my truck doesn't really smoke except on tip-in /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif, after that it just breaks loose and gets sideways.

Thanks, Guys. I noticed that if I baby the throttle and ease into things, it makes a huge difference in not choking the guy behind me. Maybe that's a good gauge at how to save a little fuel too. When I can see too much smoke in the passenger mirror, I need to back off a bit. Still trying to get the HP ranges from DI as to what my increase is at each stage. I can say that the tow setting on this new chip is much stronger and produces more smoke than the BD Power tow chip that was in there to begin with. I don't think the Corvette convertable that was blowing his horn at me because I wouldn't (couldn't) shoot through a left turn across a busy intersection - appreciated the "instant night time" he had to drive through once I did take off...with the chip "extreme" setting. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Sorry...but my F350 just doesn't shift as fast as his little red Chevy and my family's lives are worth more than the extra minute he would gain!

I appreciate the feedback and advice!
