Hey guys, I have both driver and passenger airbags. For some reason my airbag yellow light is on in the instrument cluster. I have "jiggled" the on off switch connections etc with no change. Any ideas?? All I can think of is if maybe there is a sensor that is not working propperly.

Thanks!!

When you turn the key to on, it should flash a sequence at you that tells you what the trouble is. Mine, for instance, flashes 27, which means that the passenger side airbag warning light is burned out. I haven't fixed it yet.

To tell what number it is, just count the number of flashes. For example, code 27 will look like this,

Flash-Flash.... (Space) Flash-flash-flash-flash-flash-flash-flash... (longer space) Flash-Flash... (Space) Flash-flash-flash-flash-flash-flash-flash... and so on. It does it like 5 times, then turns on solid. Find your code and get back to us...

Mine flashes 27 as well. I guess I need to pull the gage panel out and change some bulbs. What bulb number are the dash bulbs? I figure since it is all apart I might as well change them all.

The 27 code means that the light in the Passenger Airbag Deactivation switch has went out (not bulbs in your dash).

When the truck starts up it should light the "OFF" light next to the Passenger Airbag Deactivation switch. I would guess that yours is not lighting during this startup test.

From what I have read here the bulb is not replaceable and the entire Passenger Airbag Deactivation switch has to be replaced.

Ok, thanks Hoss!!!

It flased a total of 25 times.

it would flash for two or three times at each interval. A total of 25 flashes and then it stays on.

Globey,

From what I read in Hoss's post, all he needs is the number of flashes. I don't think he needs the timing sequnence too. I think he was just showing how it will flash and you have to count it. For example, Ggg6 said that his flashes 27 times so he has the same problem. Mine flashes 25 times. If I need to write down the actual sequence though, I will.

Mud, my light flashes two times then it pauses then it flashes seven times this is how I got 27. It did not flash a total of 27 times.

Yup, that's it. And sorry, I thought it was a bulb. You have to replace the whole friggin switch? I guess it is black tape time over my airbag light...

You have to replace the whole friggin switch?

Well, not exactly. Here is what I (along with several others on the site) did. Go to Radio Shack and purchase a 12v sub-miniature bulb with solder leads. Pull the dash panel and remove the air bag switch. Open up the switch housing, desolder the bulb, solder in the replacement. Take the $50 you just saved by doing this and put it towards performance mods. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif
