does anyone know how to tell a diesel zf from a gasser? Is there a different part number on the tag or some distinct feature that i can look at? Or does some one have measurements on the bellhousing bolt pattern ?

Only way I know how is the gasser versions have a taller 1st gear.

If you measure from the bottom bell bolt to the top bolt on the same side it is a greater distance on a diesel.I'll check it for you,I think it's about 13" on a diesel.I'll get back to you.

Hey thanks. I found a zf. i just want to make sure it is a diesel one.Maybe even a sketch w some measurement? All i have are BB gaser trans stuff

I have a question....

What is the part number on the ZF you're looking at? Simply punching that number into Google might get you your answer. Give it a try if you have the number.

Thanks. that helped w some of my questions w the differences between the 42 and 47. I just need to find out what part numbers are on the case to see if gas or diesel
