How is the Spartan tuner working out for the people that have been running it? MPG? Any issues? Love it?

H&S Black or Mini Maxx

They have been doing pretty good, but we mostly sell the H&S Black or Mini Maxx for the 6.7L Ford which have been doing excellent.
Could you please PM some info on these, and their differences, pros & cons, for a 2011 F350 4x4 dually. thanks

The power and functionality is the same, the only difference form one to the next is the screen size. The Mini has a 2.5" screen and the Black has a 3.5" screen. Click the link in my signature, we have a ton of info and pics on our site along with package deals etc. feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Both are H&S, run the same software and do the same thing. The Black is bigger is all. H&S has a photo on their site comparing them. They have a couple entry level units too.

Most go with the mini. I like the mount called blendmount that goes over the rear view mirror.

It's a tough call between Spartan and H&S. H&S is far far far more popular. The Spartan is quite a bit more money, but by the time you add in the unlock code, trans tunes and KEM green tunes the H&S is more $.

This one does not seem to have a right or wrong answer. Both are very good units and no reports I've seen of them damaging the truck.

They will of course completely VOID YOUR WARRANTY.

With all the bugs Ford has had and their habit of denying warranty and sticking the customer with monster bills, I'd say proceed with caution and only do the tuner once you are confident your truck is not a buggy one. Personally, I'll wait until about 20kmi, though may install it earlier and simply have it in monitor and logging mode.

That is not true. Nothing automatically voids your warranty, it is up to the dealer.
Not what I've heard and read. Though I certainly admit I'm not an expert by any stretch.

What I've heard is that the computer will detect any intrusion and will come up on a scan. If it does and you've had a major failure these two pieces of information will go to Ford and they will deny warranty.

In particular the computer logs things like max boost and if it's outside factory parameters you are toast.

Hearing and reading things on the internet doesnt make them true.
And that also applies to what you have posted!

The truck's warranty is with Ford...not the dealer!
Read the manual that came with the truck!

Now, the dealership is the middle man between you and Ford...they can spin the warranty sometimes, but the ultimate decision will be Ford's.

I am always amused by the statements some vendors make to sell products!!

To sell products? Give me a break.:icon_rolleyes:

Read the manual....thats a good one!

The dealership is the middleman between the customer and Ford. The info that Ford gets comes from the dealer. You said it yourself, they can spin the warranty any way they choose.

Saying that performance parts will automatically void your warranty is flat out false.

BS is not necessary to "sell products."

Its usually the boss at the shop that causes problems. But the boss dont need to know about the tuner so 9 times outta 10 if you put it to stock and take it in for service. They'll service it and say k bye. The warranty wont be voided. The warranty claim may get kicked back but warranty all the way gone? No friggin way. But why would i know this? Im a heavy line tech at my local ford store. Deal with it all day. Theres also not a vendor on this forum thats.gonna blow smoke up your ass to sell you something. Theres enough guys that buy it anyway.

Good to know, thanks.

FYI: the person who does the warranty submission (not sure what you call this position, but all warranty claims go thru her) is my best friend's wife. It's why I went 15mi out of my way to this dealer.

Hopefully, I won't need it anyway.

im not looking for bigger power gains. ie doing a DPF delete and all. does either Spartan or H&S have and lower HP tunes that still work with all the OEM DPF & DEF set-up, like maybe 50hp increase or so, with maybe little increase in MPG?????
