Hello people!

'05 F250 6.0 PSD:

1) Is the oil pressure gauge on dash monitoring lubrication circuit's oil pressure (LPOP), or is it monitoring fuel system's oil pressure (HPOP)?

2) Is "LOW OIL PRESSURE" warning all about lubrication circuit, or is it about high pressure circuit, or maybe either?

3)
Is it possible for IPR to fail due to a very simple problem like easy removing dirt or not so important foreign object?
Does it woth it (in applicable cases) to try to fix a stucked IPR only by cleaning the part or removing some not catastrophic obstruction, or every time it gets stuck means replacing the part?
(It is not cheap).
How bad or agressive does an obstruction needs to be in order to damage IPR's integrity?
Can the solenoid coil be damaged (overheat, open circuit) when an obstruction doesn't let the valve section move?

All hypothetical scenarios, just sharping my 365VGT knowledge, Thanks for sharing yours!

1) It monitors low pressure oil
2) Again, low pressure oil. There's an oil pressure switch on the low pressure side that provides an input to the instrument cluster. IIRC, 7psig is the trip point. If it were insufficient (low) high pressure oil, you would get a DTC -- a P228x
3) Yes. A little bit of debris can have a pretty significant effect on the IPR and the HPO system control. IIRC, you can get an IPR screen replacement kit. Haven't seen a lot of success with it, though. Usually if the filter is wrecked the valve needs to be replaced.

Just to add a point that may not be clear: the oil pressure "gauge" on your dash is not a gauge at all. It is a needle movement mechanism with a fixed position. If the oil pressure switch reaches 7 psi then the "gauge" goes to the fixed position in mid-range of "gauge" travel. The oil pressure could be 8 psi or 80 psi and the gauge needle would not move from that standard position.
And to give the rest of the story: the temp gauges stay in one place over a temp range determined to be normal. 190-220F or maybe even a few more degrees plus and minus give you the needle in the same place.
Some time about 22 years back some one at Ford decided that the paying customer could not handle the truth that GM and Dodge truck buyers were seemingly able to digest with no real difficulty. The others may have played with their temp gauges a bit but in my experience their temp gauges, which are numbered with real temp numbers, are pretty accurate. The others also have oil pressure gauges that drop to 20 psi on a hot idling engine and go up when the engine speed is increased and show increased pressures on cold engines.

Allen Mullaly, you have been great for Ford. Please handle this fraudulent gauge issue before you depart. Someone with a tech background may be the Ford customer's only chance.

VW does the same thing with the Temp guage. Anywhere from about 177 to something over 200 is all the same. This is why the temp sensor is two sensors; one for the lump behind the wheel, one for the computer. Probably done so the stupid people don't freak out when the temp guage moves. Stupid people are all over the world, but in America, they give them drivers licenses.
