Can any of you HPOP gurus tell if this is a late model HPOP? Also the numbers off of it read 247C RR

HPOP PIC

The RR says it is a reman, but the other numbers don't match up with any Ford number. It is probably the reman part no. There is no way to tell from looking at it that I know of. Maybe someone who does this all the time will know from experience.

Thanks for the input, I know the pic isn't the greatest, but like you said maybe somebody who messes with these things a lot can identify it. I think the later models have a "hump" but I'm not sure where /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Judging by the HPOP line fitting, it's an early pump(15 degree). That 90 degree fitting is a dead give away. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif

GSXR is more than likely correct, but a picture of the rear cover would be helpful.

If the rear cover is not perfectly flat, commonly referred to as a 'humped' cover then this would be a 17* pump.

If you have the pump in hand take a look and let the members know, you will receive knowledgeable feedback.......well with a few exceptions /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No, I am not referring to GSXR.

Respectfully,

Chet

So the 17 degree swash plate is the only difference between the early 99 and later pumps? Thanks for the help guess my search continues.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

If you dont need "Twins" Bob Riley is supposed to be working on a much better than stock SINGLE HPOP. Dont know when it will be available or any numbers yet, but everyone that has talked about it says it would be great for those of us with stock injectors, or low performance upgraded ones I guess. Should supply all the oil we need for our applications...

I think SDP had some custom 20-degree HPOPs at one time -- I don't see anything on the website about HPOPs now, but you could give 'em a call and ask.

The 90 degree fitting is a dead giveaway that it is an early pump as Joey said. Second, by it being a remaned unit (if it in fact is), shoots the flat cover verses a humped cover theory in the foot. You almost never see a humped cover on a remaned unit. Is is almost like they replace them as they don't know how to get them off without damaging them or something.... If it is an original pump then you can pretty much trust a humped cover being a 17 degree unit and a flat cover being a 15 degree unit.

Thanks can't wait, is there any downside to running the 20 degree pumps? I take it that is the max you can go on the swash plate? Also how do 20 degree pumps compare to dual pumps, or is that answer an obvious one? Thanks again.

SDP is not selling the 20* pump anymore. They said there was too much variation pump to pump and could not guarantee the finished result of every rebuild. I believe that every pump was tested and they only sold the good ones, but it was not cost effective because every pump would not perform to expectations
