what is this i just looked under the little engine cover and noticed this thing unplugged what is it what does it do and where does it go i looked and i didnt see a plug that it goes into

looks like the ebpv valve has been unpluged. It would plug into the bottom of the turbo pedistal. I wouldnt plug it in it is annoying in the winter mine has been unpluged for years.

that is the electrical connection for the exhaust back pressure valve. with it unplugged, it will leave the butterfly valve open. the valve is used to help warm up the engine, but it is not necessary.

in MN it doesn't help one bit, still a cold, rattling truck the first 5 miles.

i'm in ny also and don't use mine. as a matter of fact my actuator is missing /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif so there's no way' it's gonna work.

by the way were about in NY are ya.

it probably won't work due to carbon buildup on actuator arms. best leave it unplugged unless you verify valve is working. i live in CO, gets below zero each winter, truck operates better with it off. if i want a warm truck in the morning i plug it in for 2-3hrs and starting with warm oil is good for your engine.
