Hey Guys,
I can't remember if I posted this before or not but now that its finally stopped raining in here California, its time for the AC!!

The dash switch does nothing to increase airflow. It just stays a very LIGHT "breeze" (low setting regardless of switch position). How do I determine if its the switch or the fan motor that is not working?

Thanks,

Lance

Check the resistor on the heater plenum between the fan box and A/C box in the engine comp.

Also try running a wire from the positive battery terminal to the blower, after unpluging it, and see if it blows harder. if it did it would eliminate the blower as a problem.

Also pull the blower off and clean the leaves out. Get the hose and wash it all out. Its amazing what can build up in there.

Every time I've had a blower motor resistor fail the fan only had high speeds - do they ever fail with low speeds remaining?

I've had NUMEROUS Ford blower switches fail over the years, they are too light for full speed use and melt. If your switch is bad, you'll need a new plug and replace the resistor too.

The resistor when it burns out usually goes to high speed yes, but loose connections and possible broken wires may not do the same.

I have to jiggle mine till it almost breaks off then it comes on, then you hit a bump and it stops blowing again and you have to jiggle it some more. If you get the timing right, you can hit a bump that turns it off whenever you get too hot (since it only works on high) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif
