I apologize about all the post but I just ran into a new problem. My co-worker brought in his scan tool, AutoXray brand....Seems the advanced auto scanner wasnt just cheap, niether of th eports are communicating!! What would cause this? What should I do to get my codes off to see whats going on? Should I just have it reflashed and PRAY that the OBD-2 port starts working? If this is a ecm/pcm issue where can I pick them up with out having to trade in a leg?

I really miss working on my old 71 ford f100 custom! I had that bad boy fast as a bat outta hell and could WORK on it without all this computer crap! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

94.5 need to be reflashed to enable the OBD-II port. It will not work without it enabled. Check out my truck pics, and look at the OBD pics. It tells you how to short two wires on the OBD-I port and it will make the CEL flash. It will flash, then pause and then flash and then pause several times. Count the number of flashes between pauses. thats your number, the pause is a space then right down the number of flashes again. continue until it stops, you should have a 4 digit number. Let me know and i'll look it up in my book to see what it means. Don't use the diagram with the VOM meter.

Also as a rule of the forums keep all of your like post all in one thread, don't post questions reguarding the same thing in mulitple threads. It makes it confusing and drives the mods crazy. If you read in the read first before posting thread you will notice all of this information.

thanks for the info, does the CEL have to actually be on when I do this or do all the codes store? BEcause when I turn the truck off it resets.

I looked at your diagram, and now i am confused...can you please explain a lil bit? I can see which ports are involved but unsure to where i need to run them to. I just dont want to mess this up any more than it is /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif

Also I apologize again for the multi post, it wont happen again /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

partsman- I spoke with the service manager and he said only the newer trucks need the Ford enhanced programming. But then again he sounded like a retard on the phone, so my trust will lay with you. Just to show how stupid this guy was, I told him I had a 94 Powerstroke and explained my problem, when I told him it kicked a CEL and went into safe mode he asked if I was driving a Lightining...He also had NO IDEA what reflashing was....I knwo I didnt either but this is HIS JOB!
, so its not a fuse but thanks!!
Tall- the cig lighter works(keeps my radar detector running /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smokin.gif,, so its not a fuse but thanks!!
Thansk again for the help you guys.

OK i noticed that when its going to throw the CEL, the truck smokes a lil but and has very slight hesitation....anyone? SHe usually doesnt smoke at all but I have been paying very close attention.

Im still waiting for a lil more advice on how to self test my OBD1 plug...I asked the diesel guru at work and he was a lil confused fromt he drawing also...but mostly on the STI, what is that? test light???
