My truck has 22k on it now and it got a new turbo last week. Now I know when its in tow haul mode it down shifts hard.I've felt it many times before. This time it down shifted so hard I thought we got rear ended by an 18 wheeler /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif. We were on level ground ( no hills in south jersey ). I like using tow haul to help save the brakes. I was towing my fifth wheel. If it keeps down shifting this hard I think something will break on the truck or us. Did I say it down shifted really really really HARD /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif . I hope this was a one time thing. Has any one else had this happen /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif. It was at least 4 X harder then usual /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif. I took it out of tow haul and it shifted fine like always. If it does this all the time now I won't be using tow haul mode any more /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

I thought they had a flash to address this issue. You might ask your dealer about it and see if you need an update.

we had the same problem with our 03 after a dealer visit. They had reflashed it, but for some reason they had to reflash again.
Haven't had a problem since.

There is a TSB that I've looked up on line that lists a series of shifts to make, I can't remember the number of the TSB though.

I have the latest "no buzz" flash. I sometimes use tow/haul in heavy traffic because it makes creeping down the freeway a little easier. I never had any problems before the flash, but (once) since then at a very low speed, it down shifted so hard that I thought I was rear-ended. No kidding - I really thought I had been hit. Everything works fine when I'm not in tow/haul and I havn't tried it since.

I had this happen on the '04 with the stock programming. Once it started doing it, it did it every time on the 3-2 downshift. The fix for me was to unhook both batteries for a few minutes to reset the learned stategy in the TCM. All was good again.
