I replaced my midship tank in my 05 short bed with the Trans Flow 11952. Going from 29 stock to 46 TFI should be very nice on the road now. Hauling my 24' enclosed yields about 9mpg or 250 miles to low/empty hauling and 400 empty. Now I should be able to push 400 loaded and 700 empty. I am sure I will forget the 820 price tag soon enough.

How did it affect the fuel gauge?

[/ QUOTE ]

The fuel gauge measures the percentage of fuel in the tank, so there's no effect there. What does get effected is the trip computer, which needs to know fuel capacity.

I don't really care about the trip guesser, but I talked to Transfer Flow a couple of years ago and they told me the gauge would read different. I particularly remember the guy saying that you would still have fuel left, like 8 gallons, when the gauge read empty.

Not doubting you, just repeating what they said.

The instructions said to bend the sender float wire to match their diagram. It was about 10' from stock bend. I did that and put 5 gal in and it read just above empty like stock. I drove 14 miles to the gas station and it was just below empty and low fuel was on from the get go. 23 gallons was 1/2 gauge and 39 was full. I would consider it very accurate. I drove about 200 miles for it to come down to the full mark. Trans Flow published the readings in gal but I am not too worried since I filled it from empty and know I have 23gal and half and @ 5gal at empty.
I don't have athe trip computer in my 05 XLT. But there were instructions to recalibrate that thing as well.

I had a 48 Gal in my 00 It was faily accurate, but I could count on 10+ gallons when it read E. So what I was going 400 miles on a tank. Good luck guys, you will like it. MP

i have the long bed 05 with the 57 gallon midship replacement and i have been workign with both ford and Transfer-Flo on trying to get the miles to empty reset ... i keep getting the same info ...Ford dealer finally found where in the programming to amke the change but needs the info from Transfere-flo what to put there... Transfer-flow says that they do not ahve the code info and that ford should be able to tell the dealer... the dealer has called the factory and they say that it cant be changed(bull as we could ahve "made -up " a number or guessed and changed it that day while the programmer was plugged into teh truck but we had no way to even guess what the number should have been ... its not like the directions on T-F's sight for the 04 and back seems ford changed programming for 05 ... the stock reading was something like f3000 or something its not in hexa-decimil the info has to be someplace but the factory guys either wont look it up or figure it out its a pain in the backside as i regularly use most of the larger tank and it would be nice (tho i wouldnt rely totally on it ) to ahve the gauge work right....it works as is but with a full 57 gallons it only reads like 539 miles to empty then its not consistant in counting down the miles to match the odometersometimes it like 2 miles on the odo to one on the tte other times i ahve gone as far as 4 miles to 1 ...
but yes the T_F tanks are great and the added mileage between fillings really helps as one station i used to have to stop for fuel as a safty thing is now chargeing $2.79 per gallon compared to between $2.19 to $2.39 a gallon here in town ... Mickey

oh adn tho i havet ever totally ran the truck dry i can get oever 800 miles to the tank ..mickey

My midship tank started spewing diesel on the ground yesterday. The plug in the top of the tank where the pressure transducer would go was/is leaking. It looks like the wrong plug for the hole but is marked Ford on top I think.. I only had the tank a month, it is a small problem but annoying. I have been getting 700 plus miles empty with the average fill up of 42-44 gals. It will hold about 47-48 to the rim. My fuel gauge is dead nuts on. Once it goes below the red I have about two-three gallons left.
