Anyone have some of the voltage specs handy for the ICP?

I'm looking specifficly for voltages at given pressures.

ex.: 0psi key-on, 500psi, 1000psi, 2500psi, 3000psi.

is this sensor linear? as in will the voltage climb evenly with pressure?

I've been getting some odd readings, I changed the sensor, but still have problems, I'd like to check the refrence voltage, and sensor output.

Are you using Auto Enginuity? There was a bug in 3.3 that caused astronomical ICP readings. Said mine was at 37,000 psi. Supposedly it is fixed in 3.4

This was on a snap-on, but I've got the AE 3.4 and hardware should be here tomorrow. I was borrowing the Snapon solus from a buddy.

Here's the info from the Service CD for the ICP sensor.

I did a quicky graph (pressure vs voltage) and it looks mostly linear, with just a little wobble.

Press Press Sensor
(PSI) (MPA) Voltage
0 0 .02v
200 1.5 .4v
400 3 0.73v
600 4 .96v
800 5.5 1.2v
1000 7 1.4v
1200 8 1.6v
1400 9.7 1.9v
1600 11 2.1v
1800 12.4 2.3v
2000 13.8 2.6v
2200 15.2 2.8v
2400 16.5 3v
2600 18 3.3v
2800 19.3 3.5v
3000 20.6 3.8v

If you are looking at pressure vs voltage readings, it may be wise to have an actual mechanical gauge hooked up to read the pressure. Maybe the ICP isn't lying, perhaps the IPR is twitchy.

My truck wont start and was suspecting the hpop and have no way to read the pressure but i have voltage increase when cranking at the icp it gets up to .9 volts just cranking so that should be about 700psi
Oh. Got ya. CPS?(no start, no smoke) Fuel? With no analysers, you can check for injecter firing by removing the VC and crank it over. Oil will start coming out the top IF it's firing, showing the CPS is putting a signal to the PCM. Just remember to reconnect the big connecter before cranking. No big oil messes to worry about either.

What it did was i was driving down the road and it died it has done this a few times and changed the cam sensor everytime and it started except for one time i changed the cam sensor and it was a nightmare to get started this time i changed the cam sensor but it never started back up i checked the hpop reservoir and it was empty filled it up and it started but died after 2 seconds it did that three times and now it wont start at all cam sensor is brand new from ford. Will it still spill out oil if the idm is bad?

I know it is an old post but I made a visual for everyone......

i checked the hpop reservoir and it was empty
That is your problem. You need to check your oil pressure before moving on. If the HPOP reservoir is empty the HPOP has no oil, and it has more than likely pumped air into the heads. You will have a hard time starting it if any air is in the heads.

You may have a weak LPOP that is causing the problem.

After i filled it it started and died three times its staying full now and i have oil pressure on the dash but i think it drains down over night but that another prob for another time and im not getting any air out of the hpop lines that connect to the head the main thing is i have pressure thats what i was worried about.

No. The IDM has to be firing the injecter for oil to come out. Silly question, but does the truck have enough oil in it? The gauges on the dash are really worthless for diagnosing. If the HPOP is continuously drained, the amount of air in the rails can be an issue in starting. Try removing one of the other plugs in the HP oil rail and purge the air. Air won't fire the injecter well.

sorry for being ignorant but what i know about diesels you could fit in a thimble
No need to apologize. We were all in the same situation at one time.

If you don't have access to a scan tool, which is the easy way to check the IDM, you can do some multimeter checks on some of the circuits. GB Remanufacturing - Tech Bulletin #103. You have to be careful though or you'll get knocked on your butt by the high voltage.

Typically an IDM problem will light up the SES, but not always. The most common problems with IDM circuits are the UVC (Under Valve Cover) harnesses coming unlatched. That cause either a high resistance connection, an intermittent connection or an open circuit to the injectors.
