I have a 2005 F550. My problem is with the PTO on the truck. When i turn on the PTO it use to idle up to around 1200 RPM. It worked fine on friday then on monday nothin. I have had the truck to two different ford dealers to get scanned they said all looks good they see nothin wrong. MY throttle commander wires directly into the ford factory wirin. From what i understand this type of truck is made to be built like it is. I have tested all the voltages comin off the commander and all looks good. I have been talkin to the makers of the commander they said i got what i should. They are tellin me it has to be somethin with the truck that is not showin up on the scans. The commander is very simple i turn on the PTO it kicks up the RPM.

I dont know were else to turn and help would be very nice. any questions let me know i will do my best to answer

Thanks

According to this webpage:

High Idle Mod

If you have +12V on wire 322, trans in park or neutral and the main brake is not applied, you should have 1200rpm.

If you have +12V on that wire and meet the other conditions, go back to the dealer.

If you're in gear or your brake lights are on then it won't give you high idle.

that was somethin i already tried. i am not sure its wire 322 but that was one thing i did to help trouble shoot it. i ran a jumper wire off the battery and nothin happened. that was when they told me to call the dealer.

thanks for the help

Did you double check your brakelights? It's possible the switch is out of adjustment, or the pedal is sticking slightly down and the lights are on. That would cancel the high idle.

K -- On mine, the e-brake has to be set, and transmission in park or neutral for the high idle circuit to activate. Do you have your e-brake on?

If the e-brake has to be set, does the dashlight for it come on? The brake could be set, and the sensing switch either broken or out of adjustment and the truck won't see the e-brake as set.

Hey Mike, the info on my website for the high idle mod is only good for 03 and 04 trucks.

Yes, my dash light is on. I would presume that this "sensor" has to be activated hot in order to allow the high idle circuit to engage.

Ok, it used to work. So it is wired properly. And if all the voltages are correct and the brakes and everything proper, then it is a problem in the Ford computer system. If your dealer can't (won't) deal with it, maybe it is time to find a new mechanic who can.
