Hey guys, got a 2008 f-f350 6.4. 103k miles and dpf delete straight piped and tuner. I bought the truck used with 100k on it. Very new to diesels. My question is should my rpms be perfectly smooth at idle?
At idle my rpm needle will drop by a hair or two. Nothing anyone would notice. Can't feel it and can barley hear it or see the needle drop. It used to do it about every 30 seconds. Now it seems more frequent. I've been told it's turbo pulses but I'm not sure.
Am I about to need injectors or something? I hope not cus I'm spending 4k on egr delete, new programmer and monitoring system, ccv delete all that. And I can't back out of that deal.
Just curious if that's normal or not.

Should be smooth and steady at 650-700 thereabouts, at least my '09 was and now the '10. Sounds like a lot for what you are getting done--my delete/Mini/exhaust was under $2400.

You think my idle I described is steady? It's between the 650-700 mark like I said it's an occasional hair movement. Like only my paranoid ass would notice it.
And yea it is pretty pricy. Their doing a few more things than what I mentioned. But top notch shop and products who will stand behind their work.

When you get the tuner, take a look at the rpms on the monitor and see how/if unsteady they really are.

It was more than just a delete. I did pay a little much for it. But it was done by a reputable shop who will stand behind there work. I got fondled roughly, for piece of mind I suppose.
And about my rpm issue. I'm an idiot. It was only happening when running the heater or ac. Truck is amazing now with new programmer and erg gone. Need to filter the ccv mod though. Getting some oil on the Frame I don't necessarily like.

Doesn't sound right that heater/AC would affect idle--no change on mine. By the way, your compressor runs some on every mode except for 'vent' and 'off' I believe, to dehumidify the air. Sounds like maybe an electrical draw on the alternator might be affecting the idle?

Did not know that ^
I have the dual alternator set up on mine and I'm pretty lost at to how that system works as well as anything electrical. I read about someone else online having the same issues, seemed like he just lived with it. I know my batteries are charging fine but maybe I should look into it!
