I have a 99 F-350 powerstroke. I went to start it this morning and when I went to crank it, it wouldnt. I turned the key to the OFF position but it wouldn't turn off. I disconnected the batteries so they wouldn't drain.

I tried changing the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition switch. They weren't the problem. I think the linkage (steering column ignition switch lock actuator) is broken.

I need to know if i will have to disassemble the sterring column to replace the part, how long it will take, and if there are any diagrams available.

If you have any sort of help, please let me know

Thanks jasper. Is there a version of the instructions that don't cost $32? The free version of instructions is just the removal of the column. Is the replacement of the plastic parts self explanitory after that or do you need the 40 step instructions that they have?

Personally I don't know. I'm sure someone on the interwebs has a writeup with pics.
When mine broke I replaced the whole column. But my bearings were literally gone anyways.
