ok ive replaced the vss and the speedo cable sensor and the rabs light remains on. brakes feel fine. speedo works most of the time but im not sure if its calibrated correctly. does the odometer read of the the speedo. if so would it be out of calibration also. another question is both fuel gages dont work. front floats and jumps around and the rear sits above full. any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if the 87 had external ABS sensors or if the ABS signal is picked up from the differential, but if there are external ABS sensors, give them a good cleaning. They can become dirty and lose the ability see the ABS gear thinghy. ("thinghy" being, of course, a very technical term).

Check your brake fluid level in the master cylinder. The ABS light will come on for low fluid level. My float in my Master cylinder is somewhat "fluid logged" and if I turn sharp enough it will drop enough to activate the light.

The ABS system works off of pulse generation so if the sensors are damaged or if the ABS ring on the hubs are full of dirt or debris it could cause the sensor not be close enough to the ABS ring thus causing the light come on

It's rear ABS only. This is true for quite some years, not sure when it stops but pretty sure it's not until powerstrokes as my '92 has rear ABS.
