Hey guys. I own a 1989 F700, 6.6 turbo diesel, Allison 4 speed AT545 auto trans, 23,900 GVW. I would like to increase the GVW as close to 26,000 as I can. It currently has a completely rebuilt Lucas Girling hydraulic brake system which will put you through the windshield if you want to brake that hard. It has the lopro 19.5 tires with 8 hole bud wheels. I believe it has a 7k front axle and 17.9k rear axle capacity. I am looking to be able to add another 2k weight capacity overall. My question here is; Does anyone here know the simplest way to increase my GVW on THIS truck, retaining my current wheels hopefully not going up to larger ones, *then get it legally updated to pass DOT inspection? *Thanks ahead.

AFAIK, DOT only accepts manufacturer GVWRs. If you're a certified engineer, and you do all the calculations to put your stamp on your plans to rebuild the truck, you might get them to accept it.

Otherwise: buy a 26K truck.
