Ok guys, need dome opinions. I have a set of 160's with a banks intercooler. I currently have the 1.0 housing on the stock turbo.
i have been considering a GT38r or just getting propane.
The gt38 would be some work trying to get it to fit to my intercooler and just finding the parts.
Should I go back to my stock housing on my stock turbo or keep the 1.0(to get more power and lower egts) or get the 38r?

How much of a PITA is getting the gt38 to fit? I have a pedastal from a 2001 , what else would I need?

I also upgraded my exhaust to a 4"MBRP.

I have jody's tunes and love em with the stock injectors. Cant wait to see what they do with the 160's

Thanks for your time and thanks to Long Island Diesel.

I use Maddog II 160 split shot injectors with the Banks Powerpack intercooler/1.0 housing/3.5" exhaust/stock muffler/no cat/gutted ebpv. The truck tows well up to 7000' (just haven't been any higher) with an old Dieselpower tow/race chip with EGTS below 1100* preturbo. This setup killed the stock E4OD real quick despite the use of the Banks Transcommand. The Transcommand went into the garbage after the install of the BTS.

I think the 1.0 pushes more air at low and mid rpms than the 1.15 does. I have a BB turbo new in the box that I didn't install since others I know said they experienced the SD type turbo surge with the BB especially at altitude and heavy RV loads (10k# or so).

The BB install needs the complete late (1999.5 up) SD turbo setup to install. Uppipes, y-inlet to turbo, manifold compressor adaptor, exhaust backpressure valve, pedestal, possibly reworked SD or Banks intercoler tubes. Banks does not make a twin-ram intake adaptor for the late SD/BB type turbo setup. Generally a relief has to be made in the firewall to clear the wastegate mechanism and firewall clearancing for the downpipe. Some have made a downpipe by taking the turbo flange off of a SD downpipe and using it on an OBS downpipe. May also be able to use a SD downpipe with a lot of hammering/prying of the firewall. By the time you buy a BB turbo and new factory parts, you are very close to the cost of a H2e install kit (without any turbo surge and a rebuildable turbo). *** advertises the H2e kit for $2100 on their website.

The 7500# truck did a 14.508 1/4 with the 1.0 setup and about 350hp on Mustangs and 400 on Dynojets. The tow program dynos 15 hp less than the race program. The setup reaches about 31 psi of boost, turbo is as tight as it left the factory 180,000 miles ago. I have added a Bean's SD fuel pump/regulated return and it increased those numbers by 10 hp and 40# and a increase in power across the board to 408 hp/746# torque. Check sig for other mods. No drugs yet. Have been using this setup since 1-03 and 68,000 miles of happy motoring. Just ordered some Jody's tunes to see if the new chip will squeeze out a few more ponies. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif

Thats what I was looking for. So I could just use the stock turbo and save myself ALOT of headache. Plus with the saved money, I could get a fuel system and MSD propane.
This would be a good all around set up.

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.
