I have a 2001 F250 with 315K miles and say a posting about resetting the armature magnet armature gaps to the stock 0.004. If they are worn and out of gap, would a shim kit be a solution to re-set the gap back to stock

I have shimmed my injectors and will tell you it is a band-aid. @ 315 it is probably time to change them out. 150 is typical for injectors and I have mine @ 163 and counting. It helped my truck a lot but I still need to replace them eventually.

You can reshim to try and help.
Go for .003 instead of .004 when shimming

Rebuilt, reshim or replace at what milage. That to me would all depend on a depletion in mileage, power and difficulty in starting, if your not experiencing any of that, leave them alone. Why fix something that's not broke?

This winter it had a real hard starting at 20 degrees. Would have to cycle the glow plugs 8-10 times and then it would miss a couple cylinders for a couple minutes. Early winter had no power then came back but was on low fuel at the same time. Power towing and before warmed doesn't seem to be there then decent power, but only have a 2015 cummins to compare to where you put your foot in it it puts you in the seat.

The glow pugs stay on for up to two minutes after the pigtail light goes out. So 10 times would be 20 minutes.

When it's really cold outside, like -30F I cycle the glow pugs twice which is about 4 minutes and she fires right up.

I would check your glow plugs and replace as nessesary.
