So going a complete work over on this customers truck. No typical symptoms, drives good, scanner duty cycles good. No oil in fuel.

If you want sweet turn key reliability and you do not know the age of orings or they are about 8 yrs. old or more,,,, pull 'em

It could be a reman solenoid or a whole injector. Unfortunately unless it's marked it could be a rebuild for anyone.

Did you find just one bad o-ring, or multiple?

Looks like one of the injectors has the ford/alliant pink and orange orings, and the other injectors are all black indicating some type of aftermarket manufacturer? Is that accurate? Were the aftermarket ones the problem?

Interesting didn't have any other symptoms.

The r on the solenoid indicates reman.

I thought the same thing on the oring. The aftermarket ones fail so quick or right away

Yeah well I'm betting the chaffed wire at valve cover corresponds to that cylinder and it never needed it. It's things like that is why I always number the injectors, so I know where they come from.
Harness is out for degreasing and ohming.

Ahhhuhhh, pull 'em my brotherman. You are due for all soft rubber goods replacement campaign.
Pressurize the cooling system and check cups.
I'm not even a fan of pulling and reinstalling on original cups, truth be known. It can disrupt and compromise 15 yr. old anaerobic sealant. You might know the condition of the cups on the cooling side of that thin metal either. Do I do it every time? Nope. Is it an honest, practicle and great recommendation upsell? Sure is.
At 15 years, most harnesses are due for pulling, a good degreasing, inspection, ohming, repairs and fixing up electrical tape joints.

241k on the originals.....sorry but I'm not monkeying with anything until I see symptoms of a problem. Just my opinion.

Im in the same boat Greenskeeper. 111k and 16 years old. Neighbor has same year(2000) 260K never had any injector work and drives his all over the midwest. Nick is right on preventive maintenance. They probably need done but it runs like a dream. I go by the adage..If it aint broke don't fix it.

Stay local do ya?
Nope. But I do have AAA and a credit card. Not trying to start an internet fight just saying I'm not going to fix something that isn't broke....until there is evidence of a problem.
