I have a 2002 7.3 Excursion with 209k and planning a 5k mile trip in june. I have been prepping the vehicle for the trip with new HD alternator ,6.0 cooler and soon to be installed air bags. My question is with how many miles I have should I be worried about the injector orings going out,and also the oil cooler seals needing to be replaced . I'm just not sure how long I should expect these things to last, so I'm looking for some advice on how long these should last.

I'm with Blue, wondering about the injector O rings, as I've got 265K on my Excursion...

As far as your trip....I'd be more concerned about having good batteries...
If they're older than 2-3 years, I'd consider replacing them...
Oil cooler seals have trouble in cold weather...
They have a tendency to leak ....

Murphy's law states that if I tell you they'll be fine, your O-rings will self destruct at the most inconvenient point on your trip and if I tell you to replace them, you'll find they are in perfect shape. There just isn't a magic number. My neighbor has an 02 with about 100,000 miles. I've had to replace his injector cups, o-rings, oil cooler and a/c compressor. Mine is an 03 with a quarter million miles. My oil cooler and injector O-rings are stock, but I've lost an alternator and all four door lock actuators. His door locks work fine. It would seem to be a luck of the draw sort of thing. With that said, as cheap as O-rings are, I'd just get it done and quit worrying about it.

Batteries are new when alternator was installed 3 months ago.

I have 300,000 miles on my original injectors and o-rings, but every truck is different. Mine has been very well maintained from new.

What RT said.

I have 200k on my truck (only ~60k on the used replacement engine with 130k when I installed it). I've replaced injector o-rings when they've failed, actually in a fairly short time after they were installed. The oil cooler on the original (~140k when replaced) had never been touched, and on the replacement engine the same (pretty sure it was original o-rings based on the research I did on the wrecked truck it came from). So cold weather doesn't really mean anything as both trucks had been in Alaska for their lifetime.

You roll the dice on just about anything. Your entire engine could blow up tomorrow (not likely, but possible), or it could last for another 200k or more without anything failing.

so consensus is to just keep going until problem surface ,ok just wondering on the time frame .

Typically if you have a injector oring fail, you can still limp around. Just depends how many go at once. Lol but it's usually a over time thing, it seems like. Personally I wouldn't worry about it.
Same with the oil cooler. Normally they just leak oil externally when it's cold, until the engine warms up.

What I would do is check/replace, diff fluids, tcase, transmission, coolant. Grease anything that can be greased. Check wheel bearings, suspension, and steering components.
Throw in a new air filter and fuel, if you haven't already.
Be a good time for a oil change also.

The best thing you can do is too get all mods/changes/updates/fluid changes done now and see how they work. Do NOTHING the month before you leave. then DRIVE IT LIKE YA STOLD IT seems to work!! If not you will have a good story to post.
