Is it possible to check for a bad injector without doing the buzz test?

Well, you could tear the valve covers off and pull wire connectors off the injectors one-by-one. That may be inconclusive, and you could shock the :wink2: out of yourself.

The Injector buzz test checks mainly the electrical side of the injectors. The companion Cylinder Contribution Test checks the hydraulic side of them (to some extent).

A PSD capable scan tool that would be your best bet, IMO. Either find someone who can do it for you, or buy one. AutoEnginuity at about $350 (running on your laptop) will pay for itself pretty quickly.

So i'm guessing that the standard one for $249 that I just bought will not be able to test the injectors!! Dammit!!

You have to get the "Ford Enhanced" package with it, or it won't do the PSD stuff. The $350 was a WAG on the price.

AE developed the program for International, and it's supposed to be their standard diagnostic setup.

It will do way more than read codes and run on-demand tests.

You can monitor engine parameters on the fly with it, and you can even make your windshield wipers go without touching the control on the column. :D

Also does ABS, GEM and other codes/tests.

Highly recommended.

I'm looking at purchasing an autoenginuity, i saw them on both ebay and autoenginuity's website. So from what i read the one on ebay is just basic. Is there a big differance between the two?

The one on ebay for $209 and the one on autoenginuity's site for $249 are the same basic version, for either of these to do the advanced testing on a powerstroke you need the Ford Enhanced Package for $149, that will unlock the functionality of the software you would buy from ebay or the AE website.
