i had read a post on here about injectors not firing and the simtoms were the same as my truck. one of the replies was to take the vc off and check the oil spout for oil, i did this and on the drivers side the 2nd injector back and 4th injector back(not sure what cylinders #s)had no oil what so ever coming out. i then removed the wire to the silinoid for those injectors and the engine ran the same. now i just put all 8 rebuilt injectors in the truck so i dont think that its one of the injectors(it could be though), how do i test the wiring harness to see if its my harness causing the problem??? thanks alot for any help

yes i have and it all looks fine, also if i rev my engine up, it gets to a point, hesitates then a puff of smoke comes out then contines to rev. what might cause this?

Swap the soleniods on top of the bad injectors with the one on the good injectors. If the two that were good now don't fire the soleniods are bad. While you have the soleniods off make sure the poppet screws are not loose.

you got me on that one. have you taken the valve cover off and looked to see if oil is squirting out of the injecters?

blackcloud, i saw some of you other posts, did you end up fixing your truck? if so what was the problem?? yes i have check for oil squirting and it is coming out of 2 of the injectors. how ever once the truck warmed up it started coming out of another injector which i thought was kinda weird. any thoughts?

my problem was a burnt VC plug and wire harness. oil should come out of every injecter. might be a wire problem or the screw under the solinoid not tight which might be the reason its intermittent. somebody else might have a better idea well just keep it at the top.

may be wrong but if it is only affecting two injectors it will not be the hpop, ipr, idm.
so that leaves injectors & wireing harness. seeing as how you had rebuilts put in it should be the wiring harness. with it being the driver side the harness that runs under the intake of the turbo is notorious for burning so id check that. kinda weird though how the 2nd and 4th are not firing cause they are not on the same conector so it might be a burn/kink in the wiring harness before the first clip. right beofre the fuel bowl next to the hpop. maybe one wire for each connector got burned or something.

also did the truck run good right after the reman injectors went in?

yea before i put the injectors in the truck skipped real bad and didnt have any power and would shake when driving it. when i put the new ones it it ran alot better. now sometimes when its cold and i start it, it will skip kinda bad but then come out of it, which if you ask me is kinda weird. thanks

you might want to check the clearance between the armiture plate and the body with a feeler gauge. It should be i think at least .0015" if not it will not work right. Mine did this when it was cold and when it would warm up that inj would start to work. Just a thought?

The oil not coming out when cold, then comes out when warms up is 'common' in the sense that it's not unheard of. BUT, there's an issue with your injector if it's doing this. Do as mentioned above:
1) Swap solenoids with known good ones and see what happens.
2) Swap the under valve cover wire harness with know good ones and see what happens.
3) When swapping solenoids, check the armature clearances (Speak up if you're not sure what this means.) If they were rebuilt, they should be between .003" and .004". If they are less than .003" on a rebuilt injector, I'd worry what else they didn't address...
If you're sure the solenoid is good, and the wire harness is good, and the armature clearance is good then there's got to be another issue with your injectors.

Try that and let us know.
