:sick:I recently tried to install an alarm/ start system on my truck. I had a few problems so I took it to an installer. After having it installed my Instument cluster started acting up. It would turn on and off while driving. I opened the hood and seen that the negative battery posts were loose and one was off and had arced a few times. After securing them I found that the intrument cluster only had the temp gauges and the tach guage would randomly turn off and on with the check gauge light and check engine light.
I took the truck back to the installer and he re-checked his wiring and said everything is wired right. He thought I may have damaged something when I tried my install at first.
Anyways I checked and cleaned the battery posts, checked his grounds he did. My cheaper code reader pulled no codes.
When the guages turn off and on I hear a click from the instument panel.
Any help is appreciated

I had the same kinda thing with my truck. I never tried to install alarm/remote myself, but my pyrometer, gas gadge and tach stopped working. I let the stereo store know of the problem. They went back and looked at all the wiring and noticed they taped into the wrong wire on the ignition harness. Did you try and disconnect the batteries and reset everything? Try and think what you might of tapped into. Good luck bro!

Well I had all the wiring for my Alarm.Start system checked out and everythign is OK as far as they could see. They told me they thought it might be the Instrument Cluster. I went out and got a used Cluster and had the same problem. Back goes the used cluster and my old one back in. Now I am thinking some kind of PCM problem? Nayone have any other suggestion to check? Any hidden wiring harnesses that may be damaged?

Problem Solved

I finally solved my issues. Turns out a ground at drivers side kick panel was not done up. As soon as I tightened it no more problems:thumbsup:
Kinda Pissed and Broker that two wiring shops could not see that.
