Living in Minnesota where -20F appears a few times each winter, how important is the IAH? I could easily take it out while I am installing new boots but do not know how wise that is. The truck does not get much winter use as it pulls the 5th wheel and boat in the summer and mostly sits in the winter.

I could easily use that port for my boost gauge.

I would keep it living as far north as you do. I doub't wou would see a power increase to be worth it. Tapping the MAP line would be just as easy too.

Its not important. Its sole function is to reduce smoking in desperately cold conditions - it doesn't help as far as normal engine function.

Thanks guys. It is probably coming out. I can keep the parts and if I don't think it was a smart idea, put it back. I need the port for the boost so I will use it.

Where do the two wires that go to the IAH go and how do you detach them if you remove the heater? Has to be a sensor somewhere that tells the heater to work. I'll need to get rid of the whole works if I use that port.

I thought about removing mine a few years ago but never got around to it. When I was thinking about it I remember, but without many specifics, that there were some wires that had to be jumpered or set a specific way to prevent throwing a code. Hopefully someone that has done this and can direct you will post. DIESELSITE.com used to sell a delete kit for removing that heater. 106

Just trace the wires back they are only a foot long. They do go to a relay but I don't think too many people actually remove that. Some of us bought or made a resistor that will jumper across the relay so the truck thinks the heater is still in place, but mine didn't work (I bought, not make).

Just trace the wires, undo them, put them in your garage, and plug the hole. It's a very straightforward mod. I kept everything so I could put it back in place if I ever got rid of the truck and it mattered to someboy.
