Working on an '03 expedition with the 5.4 V8. After inspecting the intake for install I noticed that the plastic where the coolant passage bolts on in the front was "blown out'. Ordered a new manifold from Tousley Ford and in the on-line order I asked about the insulation "box" that is on the bottom of the intake. Doesn't show in any pics and tousley ford couldn't tell me if it was mandatory to replace. box itself is okay but the material inside is rotten and falling apart. Does it Have to be there, and if so what can I use to replace the rotten stuff, any ideas?
