I see this question bandied about all the time on Craigslist, Traderonline, etc. No one can find a definitive source on the 'net. Can anyone here?

How can you tell if shell/toppers that fit one year and manufacturer will fit on another? Is there any kind of cross reference?

I have a 2000 Super Duty long bed and I want to get a shell. But I see conflicting info as to whether one for a Chevy or Dodge long bed will fit it. They seem to vary by years as well (no surprise there).

Anybody have info on this?

Super Duty trucks due tpo the bed shape and cab height use their own special shell, camper, topper or whatever they call it. They come in either six or eight foot lengths.

Chevy Dodge or even older Fords will not fit correctly, yeah they might fit but not exactly and will most likely leak or look stupid.
