Please post this... I'd love to read it.

I just got back from the Baja 500 and saw at least 10 '08 diesel's down there chasing.... so they have to be running LSD in them. I asked a couple guys that they said that had filled them with it and that they were running fine.

I see there is still never any consideration for cummulative effects...

Like running a truck without an air filter... the truck will run great - for a while. And then, the cummulative effect takes over...

Since we have little in the way of real world experience with these at this point, we must rely on what we are told... A regen turns soot to ash but the ash has no where to go. Running the wrong fuel will, we are told, have the effect of creating ash in higher quantities quicker.

There are many things we can do with or to a truck once with little in the way of ill effects.... repeat the same thing time and again and the situation can change. Like driving in a nail with a hammer... it can take several blows... the last one is the one that counts.

Low sulfer diesel is still out there. I stopped at a Sunoco in western Pennsylvania that only had low sulfer diesel. That was the only spot on my 2200 mile trip from Utah that did not have ultra low sulfer diesel...its not an issue for me but wouldn't it be for the '08's?

The factory, who makes the engine, would obviously know all about the effects of using LSD in their engine. And they are telling us all that will happen is more frequent regens. Folks racking up the miles with LSD are having no issues. Ford claims increased oil dilution (which would require more frequent oil changes) and they even offer a LSD retrofit.

Not trying to take sides but let's say that lsd doesn't harm the engine as IH "supposedly" says. That doesn't mean that IH manufactures "all" of the smog related parts that goes on this engine. Ford is the entity that you will be seeking relief from if you have a failure and therefore it's their guidelines that you should be following. Just my .02 cents. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/warmsmile.gif
