Need to know what could be causing irregular & irratic idle on 03 6.0. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif
After driving for approx. 1/2 hour when you start stopping at stop lights/signs the turbo quits whistling and it sounds like it is under a load. The RPMS go from around 650 to 626, back up to 650 then drops to 570 then it goes back up. Sometimes it sounds like it wants to die. The boost on the turbo goes up and down also when all of this is happening. Power and shifting all are great once you get going again. Could this be an EGR problem, or maybe an injector problem?

Is the CEL illuminated? Have you scanned it for codes? Do you have the ability to watch PID data?

Mine was doing that a few weeks ago, in fact I was all ready to go see Ford_Doctor. When I used the IDS to check functions, my ICP sensor showed minuscule pressure, and no variation with RPM changes. Several injectors (3, 5 and 6) showed consistent misfire. No codes or CEL was set with this original '03 program.

I went through my normal PM just before taking it in and found it was 1 qt low on oil although about 750 miles before ready for a change-out. Added the oil and the skipping went away. No sure if the level or anti-foam additive depletion was the cause (or synergistic with the ICP).
