As I am based in Australia so all of my communication is via email to suppliers of Ford Superduty parts.

90% of all communication never gets replied to. Even after 3 or more attempts. It has taken a lot of work to get what I wanted. I have purchased close to around $20,000 in accessories so I have not been tire kicking :icon_wink:

Luckily I made contact with someone in the US who has done the 90% of purchases for me and organised shipping to Australia.

Accessories I am adding and have purchased:

Poweramp Steps - Could not find one online seller who would ship to Australia - My buyer organised
Herd - Moosebar/Bull Bar (we call them) - Would not reply to any emails - My buyer organised
Dieselfiltersonline - Awesome service
Partsguyed - Replied to all communication (no purchases yet)
Wrangler4x4 - Warn 16.5ti winch - excellent service
Icon Lift - No replies to any emails - 2.5" Stage 5 lift - My buyer organised
Tirerack - Awesome service - 12 tires
Visionxsuperstore - 1 week delay and purchased off Accessory Partners (who were awesome, arrived to Australia in three days) = $2,300 order
Exteremeoutback - Compressor and tanks etc - Awesome service

I have not listed many other suppliers who I contacted and never replied, just the brands I ended up getting.

Plus many more items off ebay. Sensors, 8 OEM 18" rims, firestone wireless controller, air bags etc.

Anyway it has been a very interesting time sourcing these parts. It has taken me nearly 8 months to source them all and some are yet to ship.

Do you think maybe it is not worth the effort just to ship to Australia. I have been more than happy to help the US economy. I have also handed over $60k for a truck too.

I'm sure there are suppliers that run their business off in person visit and telephone orders. Others may include website orders, and maybe emails just are not their daily method of selling products.

Other companies may not be sure of what is involved in exporting products.

So your choice of working with a local agent to source your products and ship them may be a smart choice.

Good luck

...it probably has more to do with US retailers having a hard time trying to figue out how to get UPS or FedEx to get it there...I've tried ordering more than a few things from the US, and too often, there is resistance to the idea of trying to get it up here economically - non-UPS or FedEx - not wanting to deal with customs and seeing obstacles rather than opportunities.

Having said that, when you find a good retailer, a Canadian can more often than not get it for a lower price and less shipping costs out of the US than from a Cdn retailer...ordered a rooftop hay rack that delivered from Oregon to here was cheaper than only the price for one in Canada.

I've emailed Truck Toyz 3 times about an Icon leveling kit. I want to purchase the kit from them and also have them install it. No communication from them at all. I tried 2 different people-including the owner-president. They are even in my home state of Texas.
I guess the $1,000-2,000 I would spend is too small to envoke a response.
Not what I am looking for in a dealer.

I contacted Icon with the same result....zip.

Not sure who my sourcing agent got them from. I do know it was a three week wait from time of order. I am in no hurry as I have 8 tires, bull bar and wheels coming in the same shipment.

Why have a web site and email contact if you do not use it. Not hard to say "Sorry we do not ship overseas" or "Sorry we are too busy with orders yours does not count so please go elsewhere"
