I was wondering if there is really much difference between a F250 and a F350 crew cab SRW? I am looking at 2 trucks that are both equipped pretty close. One is XLT and one is Lariat is about the only diff. Since they both have FX4, Diesel, Tow command, and camper package, I was wondering if they had the same spring ratings and maybe the front axle is all that set them apart. Other than the diff between rim sizes, and the XLT has dual alts, I really can't see anything different. Any help in the confusion would be GREATLY appreciated!!

The primary diff is the carrying capacity. a 250 has less capacity then a 350. A 350 has less capacity then a 450. Etc... Also a 250 has a 2 inch blocked rear and a 350 has a 4 inch blocked rear.

Rear axle:
F-250 = 6,200 pounds @ground
F-350 SRW = 7,280 pounds @ground

Tires:
F-250 = 3,195 load limit per tire
F-350 SRW = 3,415 or 3,640 load limit per tire

Wheels:
F-250 = 3,195 max wheel capacity load
F-350 SRW = 3,525

Max GVWR of CrewCab longbed 4x4:
F-250 = 10,000 pounds
F-350 SRW = 11,500 pounds

Are the axles on the 250 and 350 ('05+) actually different? My understanding is that they were not for '04 and older, but I've been wondering if there are now some genuine physical differences between the 250 and 350.

99-04 the F 250-350 SRW are the same truck. F 350 will have 2" taller blocks in the rear, thats it. The rest is the same.

I was told on here that in I think it was late 2001, Ford started using Dana 60's on the SRW F350 and the F250 had a Dana 50. Like Ford did back in the late 80's. Since this truck has the camper package on it, are the front springs any taller than stock or the same as a F350? I'm looking at putting new tires and possibly rims on this truck and was wondering if I need to do the front spacers or not if I want to run a 35" tire. Thanks!

In very late 01, Ford started using Dana 60 in the front of BOTH 250 and 350 SRW. Late 01 meaning early 2002 model. I heard a few Mexican built early 2002 250/350 trucks still had the D50, but this may not be true.

The axle shaft diameter is slightly larger on the 350's

So if I'm reading this right, since 2002 models, Ford started using Dana 60's on both the F250 and F350. But, the axle shaft is larger on the F350.

Now, since this truck has the camper package on it, are the front springs still lighter than a 350, and does it incluuude the 444" rear block? Sorry for asking so many questions. I've not taken delivery of the truck yet, but these are questions I've often wondered since both trucks (springs and axles) look virtually the same. Thanks for the info.
