I was coming home from work the other day and saw a 2000 dodge dually out front of dealership with a sticker on the roof that looked like this ...$13497. So today we went down to take a look at it. Right away they spotted us and came out with the keys and a plate. We all know what happened next. So the ball and chain jumped in the drivers seat with a grin from ear to the same ear /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif. Drives nice, shifts nice,(manual transmission)at least that is what i was told /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/depressed.gif. I didnt get to drive it but it seemed to perform flawlessly. Do you think its worth the money? 2000 3500 dually, diesel,manual,4wd,ext cab,142,000miles,cloth seats, brand new sneakers, goose neck hitch,am/fm/cd,broken cruise but clean.

How many miles???? I would ask for the PO's name & number and see if you can chat with him re the history. When you see a dooley with a GN hitch, you want to ask how much towing and how heavy..........(could be a retired hotshot truck).

If it's not been rode hard and put away wet, that's a good price IMHO

I knew I forgot something. It has 142000 miles. I was weary of the hitch too. The hitch was made from a plate bolted through the bed with spacers to the frame if you can picture it. But other than that the truck looks very clean.

I doubt it is a hotshot truck. Not nearly enough miles.

My father bought a 99 f-350 with 130k that was put on in 18 months hauling hogs from IA to AK, the GN ball was worn so bad that he had to put new one on (the owner said that he never unhooked the trailer in the 18 months that he had the truck and no grease) other than this and that it has been a good truck it all depends on the mantiance

Sounds like a good deal if it's as clean as you say. Out of curiosity, what dealer is it at?

Definitely not. My Uncle's Hotshot rig, a 2004 Dodge, has 280,000. Heck my truck has 175,000 and I'd be asking almost that much for it and it's a 99.

That's just over 20,000 miles a year, the mileage isn't bad. Check the hitch and see how much wear is on it, and look under the truck to see how it's connected to the frame and the condition that all of that is in.

A truck that has been used to haul LTL (Less-than Truck Loads) for a living, or "hotshot" loads.

Usually pull a large gooseneck trailer that's very heavy and travel many, many, many, many miles.

Put the key in the ignition and turn it on-off-on-off-on and the codes will be displayed on the odometer.

Make sure there isn't an 0216 code which is bad injector pump.

If you do buy it, a fuel pressure guage is mandatory right away.
