Had the latest flash installed Monday and HOLY $#%&!!! It runs like a scalded dog!!! No more off the line lag, Starts right up instead of cranking forever, Smoother idle, Very smooth and quiet at highway speeds, and it looks like the fuel economy is up!!! Finaly Ford did what i said the 6.0 has needed since introduction to alleviate low speed lag, The are giving it a bit of fuel BEFORE it sees boost!!! Every shift i get just a tad of smoke which i NEVER got before!! It did the trick and this is the 1st time in 112,000 miles i have had anything good to say about this truck!! Once you reach 100,000 miles & it's out of warranty, they can give you the real good tuning, they don't care if it fails now.

I have the paper work for this reflash now, it says reflash or no tags, compliments of the state of California. Glad to hear that the reflash is working for you. My truck has no problems so naturally I'm apprehensive. If it ain't broken, don't fix it..........

Is this flash only for earily builds? My dealer said If I did not get anything in the mail than I should not get it done. Any thoughts?

Thanks very much for the info. I've been following your posts for a couple of years as I also have a gutless 6 speed.

I've been holding on to the reflash letter, not knowing what to do. Since I'm taking the truck in tomorrow for a long crank time/knocking during start issue, I'll let them do the reflash as well.

Glad you finally got the power we paid for 3 years ago...

How do you tell what code is in your truck? I just had a reflash at the time of the degas bottle sticker???? Not sure which one it is?

I have 101K miles on my '03. I haven't received any mail for a reflash. Do they send you something? Is this kind of a "recall"? Does Ford pay for it? Thanks! Dave

Got a letter in the mail. Even with my miles it was fre. I am in Illinois for a funeral right now. I came in Yesterday. got 16.8 to 17.2 MPG at 80 mph with a headwind the whole way. This is better than the truck has ever done................

Oddly, in California, there's no diesel inspection. But there's the tattle-tale line 800-EXHAUST where anyone can report any license number for smoke and/or stink, gas or diesel.

I got a letter through that service myself, 4 months after the complaint was made....Ford had long fixed the EGR by then..../ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif....draw your own conclusions.
