I have a 2000 F250 7.3 4x4 with a complete five inch exhaust and a K&N intake. When it is cold outside and I start the truck and let it run to warm up after idleing for a few minute it idles up and I hear an extremely loud jet sound from the exhaust. I have read that it is just the exhaust back pressure vale closing off to help warm up. As soon as I get in and push in the clutch it stops. then at constant rpms while driving I hear it again. If I accelerate it goes away or if I let off the throttle it goes away. After the truck is completly warm i never here it.

I am kinda new to the Diesel power and am trying to figure things out so any information would be helpful Thanks

It's perfectly normal opperation of the EBPV opening and closing to help warm the engine.I think the valve actitvates when the air temp is below 75 and the oil temp is below 140. The EBPV tube may be clogged if it opening and closing at a fast rate, but if it has the consant jet like sound it's normal. like you said it stops when the truck is fully warmed up.
