Just got back by 4-position with some tuning mods from Jody. His prior tune was already miles above the brand-name 4-position chip I had previously - in power and transmission tuning. But, based on my towing and specific tastes, we changed some settings and added a feature:
- Added a little oomph to the low end of my econ. The mid- to upper-RPM power was amazing for an ECONOMY tune, but I have a BB turbo with the larger body, so low end didn't quite fit the rest of the tune. Well, it's perfect now.
- Changed shift points and TC lockup strategy to fine-tune my towing and performance needs. Again, Jody listened and created a great solution that fits what I wanted perfectly. I haven't towed with it, but based on how the tow positions (2) feel, I expect greatness!
- HERE'S THE BEST PART: I recently added the EBV exhaust brake (SSBC) from SP Diesel without the TC lockup feature. The SSBC works great - kudos to Sean and SP Diesel. Jody added a TC lockup/downshift feature. The truck now automatically downshifts on the 4-3 downshift and stays locked up at the right RPM to make use of the SSBC. For the 3-2, he programmed it keep the TC locked up, but it is a manual downshift. Check this out - it's similar to the way the 5R110 tow feature works on that transmission.
Can't say enough about the quality and service from Jody. He programmed all of the above in advance of my sending the chip. He turned my chip around in one day. He is the man.
Anyone considering any programmer or chip should at least call him before making your decision.
