I just installed my DP Tuner 3 Position Chip (80, 120, 140 HP) and the highest boost numbers I am getting is 21-22 PSI. I though my numbers would be a lot higher than this. Does it sound like something might be wrong? The truck runs awesome, but I still think I should be getting more boost, stock I got 17-18 PSI.

With out really pushing mine ( no load ) I have seen 25. I don't know if that helps or hurts you but a call to Jody wouldn't hurt. He would be the one to know.

Do you have the wastegate hooked up still, and do you have a regulator on the map line to fool the map sensor? If not, then your about right, the wastegate will open, and the map will defuel at that psi

I've got a tymar style open intake, 4" exhaust, wicked wheel, Diesel Site Boost relief valve, and I just installed the SP Diesel EBPV sensor eliminator about an hour ago. I can still only get to about 22 LBS Max. The boost gets to 22 very quickly then just stops. I'm not getting the SES light at all, and I used to get it all the time with my 80Hp superchip.

With my 120 setting I am seeing 30-32lbs! No problems yet. From talking to jody, these numbers seem about average.

With out question you have a boost leak. You need to pressurize the intake and check for leaks with some soapy water in a spray bottle. I peg my 30 pound gauge with Jody's programing. I had 4 leaks and fixed them before going to Jody. Do you have worm drive clamps on all 4 ends of the Map hose? Have you tightened the Orange boots on the intakes? I didn't think I had a leak and Bob Riley convinced me otherwise. After checking and finding 4 leaks, it cured my loss of boost.

FOMOGO is probably on to something there.

Go to your local Home Depot/hardware store and build this.

Then follow these instructions. Say thanks to Bob Riley (Diesesite) for the info when you see him on the boards.

"<font color="990000"> Got a boost leak you can't find? Assemble a kit similar to the one shown above and attach it to the turbo inlet. Make sure it's clamped tight. Set the regulator on your air compressor to 20 psi. Slowly open the valve and let the air into the turbo. If you have a leak, no matter how small, it will be come apparent in a second or two. Do not keep the turbo pressurized for more than 30 seconds at a time as you are spinning the turbo with no fresh oil circulating. You'd be amazed just how small of a leak you can quickly locate with this method. </font>"

Don't forget a spray bottle of soapy water.

Hope this helps,

Tom

I quite seriousely can hit 30+ with the econo tune Jody did for me (and rather quickly at that).

I would definatley look for a leak in the system.

Well, I have Jodys programs and in my 140 it goes to 25lbs and stays there. I told him I have a stock turbo. Would he be able to regulate that or would you belive that I may have a leak? Thanks Jim

I will find out Monday or Tuesday of next week. I will go to the Ford dealer and get the scan tool hooked up and see what it says. Just for curiosity.

The Ford hand held scantool may or may not be able to tell. I believe it's the computer that can do the programming that is capable.

I too am under the impression that you have a leak as I only have Jody's 80hp econo tune and can hit 30+lbs.of boost in a hurry. But you might want to call Jody and talk to him anyway, hope you find the problem.

Ryan, how do you have your boost guage installed in correlation to the boost relief valve? When you made the statement about it climbing quickly to 22 lbs and stopping that is very close to the amount of boost the relief valve wants to show the map sensor.

Jim has a VERY good point about the location of the boost relief valve. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If the boost jumps up to 22lbs and then slams to a halt, location of relief valve compared to gauge tap could easily cause a misreading of the actual boost.

I've got the new billet boost relief valve from Bob Riley. It has two places to connect the the gauge, one is supposed to read actual boost, and the other reads what the map sensor sees. I double checked this twice, and I have it connnected correctly. Does anyone else have their boost gauge connected like this, and does it work properly? I will definately have to search for a boost leak, but I won't be able to do it until next week. Thanks for all the infp and opinions.

I have Bob's BRV+ and my boost line is connected to the port on the engine side. My Boost will read in the 30's sometimes so it is not a problem.
