Hello all,
Over the weekend I made a deal to sell my red/white 1997 F250 XLT CC 4X4 and buy a 2001 F250 XLT Supercab long box 4x4 with 63K miles on it. I bought my 97 in November 2001 with 32000 miles on it and it now has 138790 miles +/-. It has taken me and the family on 3 cross country moves for the military, gone elk and deer hunting and taken Scouts camping generally providing great service. Normal CPS failures, 2 fuel heaters and filter housings, alternator, water pump and vacuum pump -- oh and 3x front end ball joints. Still have stock exhaust and I still get 15-17 mpg like always -- 3.55 gears. Tomorrow I pick up the 2001 and I'm hoping it returns great service. It is pretty much bone stock. Someone did a cat delete but the computer looks unmolested no dash board holes for a chip switch. The underside is so clean it is amazing -- original factory tags stuck on various parts and only little bits of stone impact rust on places -- like only a mm or 2 in size, and no undercoating to hide problems. It does have firestone airbags in the rear suspension and was used occasionally to pull a 5th wheel, the hitch in the bed looks practically new with only minor scratching! Not used much. I want to change from my 6 3/4 foot bed to a long bed to carry my Four Wheel Campers Keystone model popup camper -- we currently slide in a sheet of 1" exterior plywood to extend my short box to an 8' floor and the guys at FWC say many do this and the camper is fine.
Here's hoping to another long and happy relationship -- I'll update my signature info once I get better info. Happy to have found another 7.3 as I couldn't afford a used 6.7.
