A lot of the components in the pre 02 models were aluminum. Later was steel. All of that is addressed in theHD model.

Something isn't right there. For that much money, it is probably a full race trans or mostly. Even getting just a "stage 1" from any of the 4 guys I listed will be much stouter than just a Ford HD replacement.

BTS: full build is $5000; they have been considered one of, if not the best for a long long time
A1: stage 1 is $5000; holds 600 hp; Chris Garrett is a 4r100 specialist; he builds them for 7.3s and for the big power Lightning guys
Sam Wyse: stage 1 is $3400; holds 450 hp; stage 2 is $4400; holds 600 hp; he is at the top of the game as well

I think sam stage too would be my choice, just for components but a few people think the stage 1 is good enough. This is my first trans choice so i have no clue, out of ignorance i upgrade. Not sure id upgraded components like triple disk tc makes it lock up where i will spill my libation

I just installed a Sam Wyse stage 1 into my truck. I have 180/30 Full Force injectors, KC 300 sxe 63/73 turbo, bunch of other stuff to make it pretty much a complete Stage 1-1.5 build. I'm really happy with it, but I'd get on the list sooner rather than later if you want one. I ordered mine on May 28th and it took 6 weeks to get the transmission delivered. I also replaced the cooler with Mishimoto at the same time. I talked to Sam and Corey (CNCFab) and everyone agreed for the 400ish HP my PMR rods could take there was no point in paying extra for the stage 2 transmission.

Thanks for info, i think stage 1 would work just thought the better components of a stage 2 would be worth the upgrade but since i am new to what is needed to handle another 200k. Not sure if there are any negatives to the upgrade other than $900.

Do you have a tuner? Wondering how stock pcm program handles new torque converter and valve body. I think there was some reference on diff tunes or tunes maybe need to adjust

With the hyrda, all the tunes have a "modified valve body" version that adjusts for upgraded transmissions. This will be signified by a "MVB" at the end of the tune name in the software.
