The k and n air filter that has the new inlet and the cone shape filter is on a truck I am lookin at and I am wondering how well it filters on a diesel. Also if it is not a good product, has it damaged the engine? How are the performance gains?

Thanks

I've been running my K&N FIPK for a couple years now. Just keep it oiled and watch your filter minder. It definately lets you hear your turbo intake and the compressor side of my bb turbo really sings!

I have had the conical K&N type filter on for about 50+k miles with execellant reports from Blackstone Labs. I say K&N type because I have the airaid version and a spare K&N filter that I swap when dirty so I have no down time cleaning.

You can do a search in the upgrades and after market and read for hours on the K&N verses other filters and filtering capability.

I use a K&N and have no problems. I do not live or drive in real dusty areas though. I do check my inlet piping every time I pull the K&N for cleaning and there is never any residue in the intake. I am thinking about going with the AIS system in the near future one reason being I'm just not that happy with my AFE.

To each his own; I have had AFE Stage I and now Stage II and with my Blackstone oil reports it has performed very well. Very low silicon reported which is the indicator for dirt injested. K n N has had mixed reviews on this forum, so if you like it and it works for you, then that's all that matters. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

True that the K&N have mixed reports, but I believe that the biggest problem is that it gets hard to sort which K&N has the problems. If you read the reports from the guys with the FIPK then the K&N fairs alot better. For me I have been running the FIPK since new and done 40K on it so far, the oil analysis seems to be good so take that as you like. I would have liked to go down the AFe route, but there are no dealers out here.
