Hey guys, just picked up a KR and love it. The previous owner didn't do the greatest job protecting the leather, and it's a bit faded. I would like to restore that deep rich look, is there a product out there that can help me?

Thanks in advance!

There are many opinions on what to use. Keep these five things in mind:
1) there is no magic bullet answer for this;
2) the type and quality of KR interior leather varies by MY enough to influence a "good" solution;
3) there are many KR interiors out there, many are old, and lots of other folks have been exactly where you are now;
4) (2010, at least) KR leather is NOT the same as other automotive leather. Regular auto leather is generally "sealed" with an outer *artifical* layer, KR leather is basically "raw" saddle leather. Each is cleaned and conditioned best in very different ways; and,
5) you will be best served by doing a *lot* of your own reseach and due deligence to educate yourself and develop your own best opinion of how to handle KR leather, better not to pick the random opinion du jour.

There are lots of posts here in these forums, and there are lots of posts in other Ford truck forums, that are worth reading thru. Don't expect a KR consultant to post your own best solution here in this one of many threads. Take every opinion with grain of salt.

IMO: what works for other KR owners may not work for you, depending on MY and usage etc, what works for others with "normal" automotive leather will generally *NOT* work for you. THE KR interior can be a thing of beauty, but you need to work hard to keep it so. I love mine and would have no other.

Good luck,
- Don

I was curious if my saddle soap would work
IMO, do *NOT* use saddle soap for any auto leather of any type:
Why you shouldn’t use saddle soap. ... EVER!

"The truth is that saddle soap was never intended as a leather cleaner. During the 1800’s the method of tanning leather was to drench it with oils and rub them into the skins to restore pliability and softness to the hide. Leather tanners of the day used a variation of what today we refer to as saddle soap to affect restoration of suppleness. However, the soaps were never used to actually clean the hides."

I'm not really sure how this comment is supposed to help me/us. I'm definitely not looking for a KR rep to chime in, although it would be great!! I'm more looking for ... "hey, I tried ______ see if it works for you?" I have done lots of reading on the subject, but haven't really found that much discussion on it. More things like how to I maintain my interior, where I am looking for more info on how to restore it a bit.

Thanks,
Darren

I have had good luck with Lexol. It comes in a cleaner and a conditioner. Many people use it on The Dieselstop and have had good luck with it. It's widely available locally which makes it convinient and it is a quality product. Thats all I have ever used and will continue to do so.

I have an 04 HD edition with black leather. I used Lexol yesterday and after two applications the seats look new again.

I hired a local detail shop and asked them specifically about the KR leather restore since my PO did not take care of it at all.

He used this pre-dyed conditioner and it definitely helped to restore some of the color.

Truthfully, the best stuff I found was what was linked above. The KR leather conditioner actually IS dyed just a bit and it's AWESOME on this leather. If you want cheaper, then I believe Duragloss is the supplier TO the KR shop so they use the same stuff overall.
