Well, tell me what you think. I was towing about 8,000lbs this weekend. I would not make any boost til over 1200deg and 2500rpm and then it would only be around 10lbs. Seems very low to me. If I lost all boost going up a hill I was done, had to go about 45mph and 1300 degs, droping into 2nd a few times to get the egts down because they were really hard to keep at 1300, with no boost. It would get maybe 5lbs in 2nd @ 3300 rpms. I made a max of 22lbs boost with the chip turned up to 140. and egts would hit 1400 real quick. I was just seeing if I could get the boost #s up still, and was almost home going thru town on flat ground.
I use to get a loud squeel sometimes from the turbo when the boost is going up. And I noticed when i had 10lbs and it was droping There was almost a metal to metal grinding sound tha would slow down with the boost levels coming home.

I Pulled the intake side off and that wheel looks ok, the edges of the wheel are shinny but there is not much play in the shaft and it was not rubbing.

So what could it be?
Thanks

Ok I will look into that. Thanks
Also I did water meth and remover the intake "y" pipe could the boots be leaking now and causing me this much trouble, my old IDI 7.3 had way more power than this.

The EBPV almost sounds like a metal to metal sound sometimes. I would unplug it (plug at base of turbo pedestal at front) and see if the problem goes away. This sounds like the symptoms of a stuck EBPV.

If unpluggin it does not help, it does not mean that this is not the problem. Your next step would be unknown to me, but I would pull the downpipe and look at it for starters.

My turbo slowly went south as the boost kept droping. If there are no leaks and the EBV is open I would look for a new turbo.

If the boots all check out. I'd do a visual on the turbo blades plus check for any slack in the turbo wheel. If that turbo craters then you will have a big problem.

well i think I fixed part of the problem, the linkage to the wastegate had come unhooked. Now on a test drive i have decent boost on the low end and more power turned down then when I had it turned up all the way. I did check for boost leaks and had none /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Guess I was right and it was not my imagination when i thought my truck had lost alot of power. Since I don't drive it much anymore i thought maybe it was me.
