Well I'm looking at purchasing a 2005 F350 crew cab long bed 4X4 diesel single rear wheel. It's a Lariat loaded to the hilt with 37,000 miles in that sweet stone and arizona beige color! It has the factory 18" rims and tires and I was wondering what the largest size tires I can fit on this truck is? I could fit 33" on my '99, but I didn't know with the new front suspension if that size would fit as well. Also, what is a 33/12.50 called in an 18"? I might consider installing a 2" coil spring spacer in the future to accomodate 35" tires. I think these trucks ride better with a bigger tire. Thanks for any info or help.

The stock 275x70R18 tires are 33" tall. Most ppl say the 35x12.50x18s fit no problem.

The widest tire recommended for an 8" rim is a 12.5". I haven't tried installing one yet but I did put an unmounted 35" tire next to my wheelwells and it looked like it would have no problem fitting even without a lift. I have the camper and snow plow packages and from what I have heard the plow package raises the front end about an inch.

My truck has the snowplow package and camper package, I still needed to add a Leveling kit to fit 35's.

I have 37" BFG Mud-terrains with stock height. Don't have any problems, although I did have to pull the plastic back on the wheel well guards to stop the racket when turning. But with the stock wheels, it only rubs a little on the side of the frame. I have posted before about this and I dont think many people believed me, so I am going to try to get some pics up tonight.

Well it looks like the deal with the Lariat fell through, but we did find a NICE 2005 crew cab XLT 4X4 diesel F250 with off-road, camper and tow cammand packages. And it only has 15,000 miles! But the bumer is it has the ugly 17" rims on it. Is there any advantage with going to 18" or is it only looks. I've been wondering how they would ride with less sidewall and more rim. I do know there is about 100 bucks per tire difference!!

18" rims are reallllllly hard to get good tires for. Dunno about the 17" rim. BTW just got the pics up.

With the 17" wheel, you can go to a 285x70R17 tire which is 32.9" tall. The stock 275X70R18 are 33.1" tall. Unfortunantly, the stock 17" wheels are not wide enough for 12.50" tires.

Hmm.. Need to think on that. I would prefer E range, I work the truck pretty hard, but the contitrash's are just about worn out.....

To be honest with you, I ran 305-70-16's on my stock rims on my '99 and they did just fine and they were only 7" wide rims. I like the fact of these factory being 7.5, BUT I still think they're ugly.

Also, does anyone know if putting 16 inch rims on these 05's would hurt anything? I have a set of aftermarket 16X8 off my '99, but I didn't know how much different the backspacing was. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have to do something soon because one of my local tire places are willing to buy these tires off me with only 15,000 niles on them. So I'm left with trying to figure out with size to go with first and then the tire.

Thanks for the reply. I actually had a tire guy tell me that the other day. I think I've decided to go with an 18" setup. Again, Thanks!
